Okay, I think I can talk about this now. I have a short story appearing in an upcoming anthology. The story is called Lucky Charm, and it’ll be in Madam, Don’t Forget Your Sword, an anthology of short stories about minions, sidekicks and companions by Dead Fish Books.
The anthology will be out on June 30th this year, but I’m talking about it now because the publishers have put out a last minute kickstarter to drum up some excitement. Check it out here! The book is all ready to go, as far as I know just in the printing stages, so no risk to backers. This is just a good way to get your pre-order in while supporting the publishers.
As of writing, the Kickstarter has 12 days left and has already surpassed its goal. Still, it isn’t too late to go join in the fun. And if your reading this too late to back the Kickstarter, don’t forget to check out Dead Fish Books and their other anthologies. They have one about First Contacts with aliens, and one about unexpected relationships/attractions.
I think Madam, Don’t Forget Your Sword is looking like a good anthology. Though, not sure that means much coming from me. I mean, I think the story I wrote for them was pretty damn good. Lucky Charm is one of the darkest things I’ve written, but I feel like I wrote a pretty interesting superhero sidekick with a twist. Most of the stories in this collection, including Lucky Charm, are being published for the first time here. There are however seven reprints, featuring stories from well known magazines such as DreamForge Magazine, Dark Horses Magazine, and Andromeda Spaceways Magazine amongst others. I’ve flicked through the galleys I received for editing purposes, and it seems like a really good variety of stories, with a mix of genres and tones. I’m really looking forward to checking this one out, and not just because I’m in it.
Hopefully, you are too. This is my first appearance in an anthology, and I’m super excited about this.
