The Feeding and Breeding Habits of Southern Treasure Mimics

So big news, I have had another short story published in a fiction magazine. Check out The Feeding and Breeding Habits of Southern Treasure Mimics over at Dirty Magick Magazine. Also, I drew a little mimic sketch to celebrate. I'm really happy to see this little story picked up at Dirty Magick, since it was …

A graphite drawing showing a humanoid figure from behind, sitting on a rock and using a stone tool to crack a round object between its legs. The figure is naked, and has hair growing not just on its scalp, but on its neck, shoulders and upper back as well. It has two slightly curved, flat horns sticking out of the hair on the back of its head. Both horns end in long hairs.

World of Green and Black Featured Creature – Biped

Even with all the work I've been putting onto The Strongest in the Forest, I still wanted to make this month's featured creature. In this one, we're looking at another creature that plays an important role in the story. And in all World of Green and Black stories probably. A creature that Strongest's Mentor would …

The Strongest in the Forest pt 1

Time for some exciting news everyone; I'm posting another World of Green and Black novella. And no, this isn't an April Fools joke. This story is set roughly 200 years before the previous novella, Neighbour, and follows the titular young Drid's mentor, the Strongest Strategist of the Forest, as she makes first contact with Humans. …

A graphite drawing of a sky-dominator standing on the ground in profile view with its wings folded. It resembles a dragon, especially with its head. Its head has three large horns on top, and smaller horns above its eyes. It has six limbs, though only five are visible in this drawing. The front and hind limbs are long legs, whilst the middle pair (of which only one is visible) are thin bony wing-struts that end in a spike. A fleshy membrane connects all the limbs on each side of the creature, and a similar wing-membrane stretches from the back leg to the end of the tail. The long tail has four barbs along it that stretch out the membrane, and ends in a spike. Below the wings, the creature's chest can be glimpsed, with a chest spike barely visible.

World of Green and Black Featured Creature – Sky-Dominator

Time for another World of Green and Black Featured Creature. This one I'm really excited about, because we're talking sky-dominators. These are a really important creature in the Drid world, and whilst this isn't their first public appearance, they'll play an important role in my upcoming Green and Black novella. I'll get more into that …

Reviewing the Strugatskys; Roadside Picnic and Monday Starts on Saturday

I like talking about older Science Fiction, but I haven't had a chance to do so in a while. So let's talk about Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Soviet/Russian brothers who wrote dozens of science fiction stories together. They were - according to the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction quote on my copy of Monday Starts on …
