Just giving a quick update post to say that the anthology containing my short story Lucky Charm is out now. It's called Madam, Don't Forget Your Sword, by Dead Fish Books and you can find out more here: DEAD FISH BOOKS I have to admit, I don't have a lot of new things to say …

World of Green and Black Featured Creature – Biped
Even with all the work I've been putting onto The Strongest in the Forest, I still wanted to make this month's featured creature. In this one, we're looking at another creature that plays an important role in the story. And in all World of Green and Black stories probably. A creature that Strongest's Mentor would …

Hugo Award 2025 Finalists
Yay, it's that time of the year again, where the Hugo Finalists for the year get announced. For another year I've been a bit out of the loop (money and time issues mostly, I might talk more about that later) but I think we can have fun discovering some new favourite stories and games together. …
The Strongest in the Forest pt 1
Time for some exciting news everyone; I'm posting another World of Green and Black novella. And no, this isn't an April Fools joke. This story is set roughly 200 years before the previous novella, Neighbour, and follows the titular young Drid's mentor, the Strongest Strategist of the Forest, as she makes first contact with Humans. …
Reviewing the Strugatskys; Roadside Picnic and Monday Starts on Saturday
I like talking about older Science Fiction, but I haven't had a chance to do so in a while. So let's talk about Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Soviet/Russian brothers who wrote dozens of science fiction stories together. They were - according to the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction quote on my copy of Monday Starts on …

My 2024 in Review
2024 has been a really big year for me. On a personal note, I got married, which was amazing, as was the New Zealand honeymoon. I've also been studying communication and marketing online, which is good for future career goals, but has unfortunately caused some of my writing projects to be paused, mainly last year's …
20 Books 20 Days
I saw a hashtag on Mastodon and Bluesky called #20books20days. It's a very simple post format, where you simply post the cover of one book that "had an impact on who you are" with no explanation. Repeat for 20 days. The concept really made me stop and think because while there are a lot of …
The Stories and the House of Jules Verne
Last September, I travelled to Europe with my Dad. I wrote a bit about the holiday at the time (read about my Ayreon Adventure here) but today I want to reminisce about one particular highlight from the trip: Jules Verne's house in Amiens, France. We only spent one day in Amiens and visiting Jules Verne's …

Within the last fortnight the the finalists for the 2024 Hugo Awards and the 59th Nebula Awards have been announced, and it looks like another competitive pair of ballots. New Story: A Short Guide to Lost Literary Works. Also I have Bluesky now.
So got some big news about a little story. And some little news about a big social media network. I'll start with the former, since that is a lot more exciting. I have managed to get a new story published in someone else's publication. 'A Short Guide to Lost Literary Works' is a flash fiction …
